Priyanka, who has acted in several successful Malayalam serials such as like "Oomakuyil," "Stree Janmam," "Megham" and "Kurushetram," has hit the big screen with "Veyil." Director Vasantha Balan spotted this girl with large attractive eyes and girl-next-door looks, in one of the serials. Producer Shankar and Balan were on the look out for a new face to play Pasupathi's lover in "Veyil." Says Vasantha Balan: "We saw Priyanka in "Sahadharmini," and were impressed by her acting." Priyanka is getting a lot of critical acclaim for her role as Thankam, the girl who commits suicide in front of her family and lover. Says Priyanka: "Many people may laugh at the tearjerkers on the small screen but there is an audience for such serials. The role of Thankam has opened doors for me in mainstream Tamil cinema but TV will always remain my first love."
