Here are some tips for successful cake baking. Cake baking is a skill for which the maxim `practice makes perfect' holds true. For making good and delicious cakes follow these tips:

  • Choose a convenient time when you can work without interruption.

  • Select a suitable recipe. Ensure that you have all the ingredients required for making that recipe, before you start.

  • Always use clean vessels and spoons for preparing and mixing of cakes. Choose only fresh and best quality ingredients.

  • Keep and use ingredients at room temperature. Weigh and prepare all the ingredients in advance before you start mixing the cake.

  • Use the same units of measurement throughout the recipe and always

    ensure the correct measure of ingredients.

  • Vigorous `creaming' together of the butter, sugar and eggs helps to

    incorporate air that is essential to produce a good cake. Then gently fold the flour and other ingredients.

  • Folding in one direction is always preferred. Avoid stir or beating the mixture because that will affect the texture of the cake.

  • Use the right baking tin, which is stated in the recipe. Pre- heat the oven before and ensure the recommended baking temperature for correct oven temperature is crucial for successful baking.
