Chippa creations

Sarees and fabrics from Madhya Pradesh

The Chippa community of printers migrated to "Madhya Bharat" centuries ago and since then have been creating masterpieces with their famous vegetable-dyed hand-block prints.

Colours extracted from Indigo, turmeric, pomegranate, lac, madder root, etc., are used in intricately carved teak-wood blocks to produce the matchless paisleys, floral motifs, jaal patterns and many more.

Anshuma Damani of Aida has worked in tandem with the Chippa community of printers and the result is an exhibition of their work featuring sarees and fabrics in Maheshwaris, Chanderis, tissues, georgettes, chiffons, crepe de chines, silks and cottons.

The exhibition will also feature a limited collection of hand-embroidered saris with zardosi and gold, silver and copper work.
