Three years of theatre

Chennai's theatre group Evam stages a series of its plays to mark its third anniversary



COMMITTED TO THE STAGE A scene from "ART by evam"

Evam completes three years of its existence and 150 shows during January-February this year. The theatre company plans to celebrate this milestone by staging plays, old and new.

Here's a calendar of events from Evam. The schedule features four plays and 16 shows in Chennai — "ART by evam" on January 6, 3.15 p.m. and 7.15 p.m. at Alliance Francaise; "Love Letters by evam" on January 7, 3.15 and 7.15 p.m. at Alliance Francaise and on February 10, 7.15 p.m. at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium; "Oh God by evam" on January 20, 26 and 27 at 7.15 p.m. and on January 28 and February 11 at 3.15 p.m. and 7.15 p.m.at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium; and "The Odd Couple by evam" on January 21, 7.15 p.m. at Chinmaya Heritage Centre and again at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium on February 3 at 7.15 pm and on February 4 at 3.15 p.m. and 7.15 p.m.

About the plays, "The Odd Couple by evam" revolves around two divorced men who decide to share a New York apartment. Their differing lifestyles lead to conflicts. "Love Letters by evam" is the story of two people and their relationship explored through their letters written to each other over 50 years. "ART by evam" focuses on the disagreement among three close friends over a piece of art. In "Oh God by evam", three men take on the task of enacting all stories from birth of man to .. well .. evolution or whatever they call it nowadays!
