Shilpa Shetty roped in for Big Brother, the British reality show

IN HER ELEMENT Shilpa Shetty

The British reality show, Big Brother, has grabbed the headlines a couple of months after Endemol produced Bigg Boss for desi TV viewers. The reason why the attention has shifted back to the original show? Our own Shilpa Shetty. Last seen in the forgettable Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar, the svelte actress will now be part of the show. And in the process, she becomes the first Indian actress to be invited for the show which is said to be bolder and more intrusive than Bigg Boss.

The actress, who will be seen in a pivotal role in Anuraag Basu's Metro, is off press. She did, however, share a couple of things about Metro. "It is a film about the pressures of life in urban India, how people are forever rushing ahead in their career leaving their relationships to suffer," she said. The film also stars Shiney Ahuja and Konkona Sen Sharma.

Shilpa has reportedly been offered Rs. 3 crore for the reality show. As a stipulation, she will stay in the Big Brother house for 25 days and will be off-limits for the media for a month. She can do no promotion for herself.

Known to be a shade reclusive, it remains to be seen how the svelte actress adjusts with the foreign participants, all of them achievers.

The show seems to be the best thing to have happened to Shilpa in a while. Apart from Shaadi Karke... , her other recent films have fallen flat at the box office. Khamosh, Fareb came and went, without a trace. Here is hoping Big Brother brings her back big time in the public eye.
