Dance and dialogue
The Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, in collaboration with Ranga Shankara and Karnataka College of Percussion, presents the internationally renowned German contemporary dance company Sasha Waltz & Guests in a unique dance-theatre improvisation titled Dialogues on January 10 at 7.30 p.m. at the Ranga Shankara.
Sasha Waltz & Guests is not a contemporary dance company in the conventional sense. Ever since it was founded in Berlin in1993 by Sasha Waltz and Jochen Sandig, more than 150 artistes from 25 countries have performed as guests and also produced their own independent pieces.
Currently Sasha Waltz's repertoire as a choreographer comprises 12 large, internationally acclaimed choreographies. The Dialogue occurs on diverse levels with the main focus on improvisation and experimentation. Talking about Dialogues, Sasha Waltz says: "For me, the most important aspect of the Dialogue projects, is to experience so many different forms and worlds in dance and music. What interests me is not any limitation in form and content but the greatest possible freedom of art." The musical interface for the dancers will be directed by Robyn Schulkowsky from Berlin. She will be accompanied and supported by six musicians from the Karnataka College of Percussion, under the guidance of T.A.S. Mani.
Tickets, priced at Rs. 200, are available at Ranga Shankara (Ph: 2652 9777) and Max Mueller Bhavan (Ph: 25205305/6/7/8)
