Pongal releases

This year, Pongal films are being released on different dates from January 12 to 15 so that they do not clash with one another. All the four confirmed releases — "Aalwar", "Pokkiri", "Thamirabharani" and "Paruthiveeran" — are in the action genre. A lot depends on these films, as distributors had purchased them before the State Government reduced admission rates. Now, all the four will have to do bumper business if they have to recover the cost. In a way, this Pongal is going to be crucial for Kollywood.
