EVAM will stage "Oh God" on January 20
|
The Tamil Nadu chapter of the National Association for the Blind (NAB) has roped in popular theatre group, EVAM, to premiere its latest play "Oh God." The play will be staged on January 20 at the Sivagami Pethachi auditorium. Proceeds from the show will go towards funding of NAB activities in 2007.
On January 28, NAB is organising a "Car rally for the blind", where the visually impaired will be navigators, reading out Braille instructions to the drivers.
NAB is a voluntary organisation that works towards the inclusion of the visually impaired in mainstream society. Under its Integrated Education Programme, NAB's special educators identify blind children in the semi-rural areas around Chennai and facilitate their inclusion in regular schools.
NAB offers a free 10-month residential course in vocational skills apart from holding regular eye camps in rural areas to provide free diagnosis and treatment for eye disorders.
