The classical tabla virtuoso Ustad Zakir Hussain will perform for the first time in Kochi. This magician on the tabla, who has accompanied some of the legends in music and dance, will present a concert along with noted flautist Shashank and on the mridangam by Satish Kumar, at the Kerala Fine Arts Hall, Kochi, on January 28 at 6.30 p.m. This special event will be held under the aegis of Society Dharani, in association with Prime Time.

On January 24, Society Dharani will pay tribute to dancer-actress Monisha with `Mathruspandanam,' choreographed by Monisha's mother Sreedevi Unni. The dance form, based on Gandhari's dirge in Mahabharata, will be staged at the Kerala Fine Arts Hall, Kochi, at 6.30 p.m.

Presented by the Bangalore-based Monisha Arts, Sreedevi Unni will be joined in the programme by Aishwarya Warrier, Swaroopa Unni, Sreelakshmi Arunkumar, Chitra Namboodiri and Mythili Vasudevan.
