Baby steps to big strides

`Desamuduru' introduces child star-turned heroine Hansika

Hansika Motwani

Hansika Motwani could have delivered Telugu dialogues for the first time, but she is a veteran as far as TV serials and Hindi movies are concerned. Her over the top performance in Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand is something people will not forget easily. She has worked in many serials like Shakalaka Boom Boom, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and has bagged at least 13 awards as a child artiste. Barely into her teens, Hansika has signed umpteen films and is raring to go. Desamuduru has just released and the actress reels off statistics, "It has broken Pokiri's record in terms of collection in the first week." Hansika loves doing commercials and says she was too young when she had worked for the Santro ad with Shah Rukh Khan. Her mother is a doctor, a skin and a hair specialist. Her client Juhi Chawla suggested that she think about a career in films and the rest is history. "I had worked in Hindi films like Jaago, Abra Ka Dabra, Koi Mil Gaya but Desamuduru was a different experience. Lavanya, Puri Jagannadh's wife helped me a lot. We shot over for 45 days in Manali with 250 people and it was great. They keep calling now and then to ask if the film has released and that they want to watch it." Hansika is doing her Intermediateand balances her career remarkably well. She says, "My Principal is very supportive, she believes that talent can't spring from classrooms alone. ." Coming back to Desamuduru, Hansika says she hardly speaks in the film because she plays the role of a sanyasin and the very few lines she has been given, she managed well. "The dialogues were written by Puri. I can barely speak Telugu but I have learnt to say konchem konchem and photo kavali," she says. Hansika adds, "Arjun was amazing in the film. I too tried dancing but wasn't up to the mark, I hope to better my work in my next film. My mum is my biggest critic, she said I was good for the first film but I can still be better and I need to polish my acting skills. ."

Ask her to describe herself she says, "I hate interference and I don't interfere in others lives."
