What better way to discover the beauty of the Nilgiri Hills than with a trek? As part of their Silver Jubilee trekking year, the Youth Hostels Association of India will be organising a series of six-day trekking expeditions in the Nilgiri Hills for Rs. 1,700.
The purpose of this trek is to offer youth new and healthy trekking options in the Nilgiris. There will be ten groups, with the first departing on April 29, and the last one on May 8. The fee includes vegetarian food, accommodation, supervision, expert guidance and equipment required.
Booking will be done on a first come first serve basis with participants below the age of 15 requiring parental consent. Participants who successfully complete the trek will be awarded certificates.
Families also have a chance to spend some quality time together and get closer to Nature by camping in the Nilgiris. The camp will be held at the Tamil Nadu Bharat Scouts and Guides Camping Centre in Stanley Park in picturesque Coonoor.
The fee is Rs. 2,000 for families of four with two children under the age of 12, with a charge of Rs. 500 per additional family member. If your children are above the age of 12, you can bring along younger nephews, nieces or cousins.
The duration of the camp will be four nights and five days, from April 29 to May 3, and from May 3 to 7.
