Heal with laughs
Severine Bourret, a trained professional from Docteur Clown, a non-profit organisation based in France that trains volunteers in helping ailing children recover through humour, is conducting training sessions for interested volunteers in Bangalore. Clowns trained by Docteur Clown, France, work at hospitals and are paid for their services by the organisation itself. At the hospitals, the Docteur Clown is the jovial buddy the children look forward to meet, who, regardless of his inability to cure the ailment, puts the child more at ease and introduces a new element in the doctor-patient relationship through humour and fun-filled activities.
Séverine Bourret, a trained clown with a year's experience in France and four months experience at the Mallya Hospital, Bangalore, is on the look out for fun-loving, service-minded extroverts to join her team in making a child's stay at the hospital less dreadful through song, dance, entertainment and everything else that can bring a smile back on the child's face. Just about anybody with a good sense of humour, who can entertain children with songs, dance, magic tricks, animation techniques, acrobatics and so on can become a Docteur Clown.
Severine will be auditioning for volunteers on February 10 at Alliance Française de Bangalore between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. For details, contact Severine on 99806 82591.
