Wear the 50s look

Lee's new collection captures the 50s feel of rebellion

The 1950s — a time in history of teenage rebellion in America and of alternative expressions.

The first American gangs started to take form. In both movies and music, new young stars, representatives of this generation, came up and gave inspiration for new ways of dressing, talking and dancing.

Guys in greasy "ducktail" hair-dos were wearing t-shirts, cuffed-up jeans and racing jackets with turned up collars. Girls in short haircuts were wearing pedal pushers or jeans, t-shirts, singlets, short-sleeve blouses and barracuda jackets in strong colours. Both guys and girls wore jeans and subsequently it became the very symbol of youth and rebellion.

This generation has inspired Lee to design and create an exclusive limited edition collection called 101. "We have looked at our 50s heritage and pictures of people wearing our products in movies, on stage or behind the scenes, or just hanging out with the gang. All the pictures have one thing in common; they are portraying young people making a personal or group statement with their style. We have designed all the details in this collection to reflect this style and the feeling of rebellion. The finishes are all hand crafted with great passion and precision and the details have been made with equal portions of heritage and hip-hop in mind," said Chakor Jain, Business Head, Lee.

The collection is available only at the Lee Store on 100 Ft Road at Indira Nagar.
