Beat street

Country, rock and pop rule the stands this week

The Doors

Original Motion Picture Sound Track

The Doors/Warner

Check out the original soundtrack of one of the biggest movies of all time based on probably one of the most influential 1960's rock act and its lead singer and composer Jim Morrison. This Oliver Stone movie starring Val Kilmer features some of the best of their songs. Also featuring tracks by Velvet Underground and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Lend an ear.

Stand Still, Look Pretty

The Wreckers/Warner

Make way for the debut album from the modern country duo formed by multi-platinum-selling Michelle Branch and long time pal Jessica Harp. The album is a heartfelt mix of Branch's pop/roots-rock sensibility and the country leanings of Harp. And the result is the earthy 12 tracks of stellar pop-tinged country, with the duo's folksy harmonies floating atop acoustic and slide guitar and mandolin flourishes. Produced by Grammy award winners John Leventhal (Hotel Paper), John Shanks (The Spirit Room), and Nashville ace Paul Worley (known for his work with Big & Rich, Dixie Chicks and Martina McBride), the album features songs written by both women, several co-authored compositions, a cover of Patty Griffin's One More Girl and The Good Kind, which first appeared on the soundtrack to the television show One Tree Hill.

No Ordinary Girl

Jordan Pruitt/Universal

Her debut single featured in the Disney Channel flick Read It and Weep and also appeared on the cover Girl Next.

Her newest racy pop single Jump to the Rhythm was featured in yet another Disney Channel film Jump In! The singer, on the Radio Disney Incubator tour and currently the opening act for High School Musical: The Concert, releases her debut album this week.
