When in need...
Recently Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) organised a 10-day Disaster Management training course for more than 1000 students from various colleges. The students were trained in disaster management and preparedness in collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The course was designed to prepare students to deal immediately with natural calamities and manmade accidents.
The Delhi Fire Brigade and specially trained experts from CISF gave instructions on fire prevention and rescue operations. Students were trained in first aid from CPR to types of fractures and dislocations and their treatment.
Professor Amarjeet Kaur, director of the camp emphasised that since India is prone to both natural and manmade disasters, contribution from the community was needed to assist the government and armed forces.
