Call centre

learning mode.

Training

I am a chemical engineer working in an international BPO with a total work experience of three years. I want to go for six sigma black belt training to improve my prospects in a BPO. Will this be the right choice?

Vivek Chandel

You will certainly improve your prospects in a BPO with the black belt certification. Most BPOs are focused on quality measures and continuous improvement. As a black belt in six sigma, you would have a solution and process improvement oriented approach. Whether this will be the right choice depends on the career path that you have envisioned for yourself. If you are looking at a career in consulting or a process improvement, this certification would add tremendous value.

Pursuing MBA

I am a 12th standard student with Commerce and Maths and plan to join a call centre. I also want to do an MBA later. Will it be difficult to get admission in MBA because of call centre experience?

Yogesh Gupta

I don't see any reasons why your call centre experience will come in the way of an MBA. There are many BPOs who would be willing to sponsor your MBA education. If you are looking at pursuing a full time MBA then you must also consider a full time graduation as that's the eligibility criterion for most MBA programs. Otherwise you could work in a BPO and pursue your educational qualifications through the distance learning mode.

Upcoming fields

I am a commerce graduate and would like to know about options in BPOs.

I don't want to join a call centre and have heard about KPOs as well. Will I be rejected because I am a fresher in the KPO field?

Dilip Kumaran

There are multiple options to consider within BPOs apart from just call centre jobs. As a commerce graduate, you can look at finance & accounting outsourcing which is growing in India. You could also consider applying for non-voice and transactional processing jobs which will be in sync with your educational background. Identify what your key skills and interests are and apply for appropriate positions.
