A familiar ring for Bharath?

Audio release of "Koodal Nagar"
|
MEMORABLE EVENING At the cassette release function
Actor Bharath was busy not only receiving visitors but also giving interviews to the electronic media. The venue was the Radha Park Inn on the 100 feet road, Kodambakkam.
The occasion was the cassette release function of Annamalai Films' "Koodal Nagar", featuring Bharath and Sandhya in the lead.
As the function got off to a start, the heroine `Kadal' Sandhya strolled in. A little later director S. A. Chandrasekar arrived followed by heroes Jeeva and `Jithan' Ramesh.
Chandrasekar said the present trend in the industry was to produce films that were sure to succeed at the box office. "Seenu Ramasamy has done a good job. That's what I gather from the artists and technicians. Bharath, Bhavna and Sandhya have worked hard for the success of the film." He went on to release the audio CD and cassette of the film and Jeeva and `Jithan' Ramesh received it.
"The film has come out well. The artists and technicians have done a remarkable job. Bharath, Bhavna and Sandhya have really understood their characters," said Ramasamy.
"Koodal Nagar" has six songs. The first number is the best. Rendered by Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam, `Tamil Selvi Tamil Selvi', written by Thenmozhi Das, takes you on an enjoyable music trip.
However, one can't help feeling that composer Sabesh Murali's music has a familiar ring to it and you've heard the tunes before.
`Yaarathu Yaarathu,' sung by Hariharan and Swetha, is another good number more so because of Na. Muthukumar's lyrics.
Thipu's solo `Aayiram Thalaiyapaathu' by Thenmozhi would have been good had the tune been more catchy.
`Kaalgal Munnalae' sung by Chandre and written by Palanibharathi and `Yakka Nillukka' sung by Karthik and written by Nandalala had less of melody and more of instrumental backup. The same can be said about `Vaarrar Ayya Vaarraru'.
