Bryan Ferry
Dylanesque
Bryan Ferry/EMI
This artist has had equal charm in his Roxy Music era as well as when he went solo. Ferry has always had a penchant for covering Bob Dylan songs, which stretches back to his legendary version of A Hard Rain's A -Gonna Fall in 1973. His first solo album since 2002's Frantic showcases what Ferry does best - covering great songs in his own inimitable fashion. The new album was recorded by Bryan's touring band back in the summer of last year and was produced by Bryan along with long time collaborators Rhett Davies and Colin Good. If you have Slave to Love on your disc man, this is one for you.
Crystal Visions: The Very Best Of
Stevie Nicks/Warner
All six of her original solo albums, spanning 1981-2001, plus two Best Of collections, have been certified gold. While rock's superstar chanteuse plans to go back on the road after featuring on Tom Petty's Highway Companion tour, this cover that hits the music street this week brings her entire solo work for the first time on a disc. Featured are several previously unreleased live tracks and duets with Don Henley, Tom Petty and a little help from the turntables, a remix by Deep Dish.
The Platinum Collection
Vanessa Mae/EMI
The hugely successful Platinum Collection series of the acclaimed classical and pop musician, known for her unique violin techno-acoustic fusion, continues this summer. This three disc set presents select tracks from her classic and special edition covers, namely The Violin Player (1995), Storm (1997), Classical Album 1 (1996). Lend an ear.
