For that serene look

Designer Mandira Wirk showcased her latest collection for a fundraiser in Colombo

Delhi-based fashion designer Mandira Wirk recently had a preview of her latest collection, "Timeless Elegance" in New Delhi for a fundraiser to be held in Colombo. The event at Colombo will showcase the latest collection of a handful of Indian designers besides Wirk along with the Sri Lankan designer of the year.

Wirk's collection includes 16 ensemblesof timeless ethnic wear, each piece pulsating with freshness and grace. The colour palette for her apparels is pearly white. As Mandira told the gathering, the word "elegant" was in her mind while she designed her outfits. She wanted to have something "feminine and stylish embraced with serenity".

Lycra churidars

Her ranges of anarkalis with stoles are symptomatic of the old world charm with a dash of contemporary feel. The saris and short kurtis with embroidered lycra churidars have unconventional cuts and imaginative patterns. Asymmetrical dresses, corsets and skirts also include her ensemble. Wirk has used a harmonious blend of the glints of gold, pearls, zardozi work and antique crystals in chiffon, satin, silk, velvet and georgette fabric. The designer said, "My collection is ready-to-wear. It is comfortable. I know the difference between a mannequin and a human body. My area of concentration was in giving a fine finish to the dresses. Adequate hooks and buttons to support and give the required fall have been provided. I personally paid attention to each dress. It should never be a pain wearing a dress." Keeping the summer in mind, the collection has been made in all white.

The outfits range from Rs.15,000 to 55,000.
