Baroque styles for today
Elegance and extravagance characterise Renu Tandon's new collection called Baroque Passion. Inspired by the artistic styles of the17th Century, she has forecast the year as one of shapelessnessand voluminous cuts. This is part of her collection for the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week. Diverting from her trademark Indian designs, this time she has put forward a range of western, Indian and fusion clothes.
Her clothes are a fine mixture of cuffs, cocoons, pleats, and kalis with the continuous but subdued use of flamboyant thread embroidery. The dominant colour is garnet pearl and can be seen on all the garments either in the form of thread work or in the colour of the fabric. The fabrics used are old jamavar, brocade, lace, velvet and silk for a rich and intense look. The collection was created keeping in mind the young, passionate and confident women of today who have not lost their feminity or understated appeal.
Feroze Gujral and Noyonika Chatterjee presented three outfits, which were much appreciated for the cut, finishing, and comfortable fitting. The outfits were dressy yet not garish. The accessories are neckpieces and loop earrings with huge stones, pearls and beads that have been designed by Bharti Wadhwani. The trends to look out for would be baby doll tunics and straight sleeves. The price range has not yet been decided.
