A royal story

A biography of Maharaja Ganga Singh has just hit the stands

"History is being distorted. It is a big challenge for people like me to preserve it and make sure that the right and true knowledge is passed on to the coming generation," said Lakshman Singh Rathore at the launch of his book, "The Regal Patriot, Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner" in the Capital last week.

Amidst the grandchildren, great grandchildren and rest of the royal family of Maharaja Ganga Singh, Princess Rajyashree Kumari of Bikaner, Chairperson, Maharaja Ganga Singhji Trust, released the biography of her great grandfather.

Multi-faceted

The book published by Roli Books, is the biography of The Great Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner who took over the throne when he was only seven and took Bikaner to great heights.

"Attributed with the making of Gang Canal, Maharaja Ganga Singh was a great architect, able diplomat, eloquent orator, warrior and a benevolent ruler," said Rathore.

"There are lots of Indian stories that are waiting to be told. As far as the Rajasthan is concerned, it is not only my birth land but also the land of untold mysteries. Only one-sided description of the events are available, I hope to write both sides of stories" added Rathore, Professor of Political Science and former Vice Chancellor of J.N. Vyas University, Jodhpur.
