A life full of beauty

Now that people know that beauty is an option waiting to happen, they are in no mood for a compromise

Beauty matters Men opting for a facial for a facelift to their personality is a common phenomenon

Transforming a balding scalp into a terrain of copious growth is no more a distant dream, nor is ridding one’s face of pimples and acne a wishful thinking. A visit to the nearest beauty parlour is all one needs to do to crack the code of beauty.

The growing number of beauty clinics cropping up for men and women in Guntur, has shown the city-dwellers the right path to a ‘beautiful’ life. “Films, TV serials and various other means of media have revolutionised the concept of beauty. Everybody is eager to look smart and beautiful. The success of any parlour lies in making the customers believe that they can be beautiful too,” says Kalpana Jyothi of Kalpana Herbal Beauty Clinic at Kothapet.

The hot and happening beauty parlours have suddenly become the panacea for all beauty-related issues. Facial scrub to body massage to weight loss programmes, these parlours offer a range of services. Hair care, face care and body care are the three basic packages offered by most of them. “Most women come for shaping their eye-brows and they take time to seek services like a facial or hair styling. Among men, majority of them come a trendy hair styling and facial” says Y. Radhika, a beautician from Lakshmipuram.

Speaking about summer-related problems such as tanned skin and rashes on the face, she says a regimented facial programme is the answer. “Choice of the package depends largely on the skin type. Proper skin care besides a rich diet and minimum exposure to the sun helps a great deal. Once the skin gets tanned, it is very difficult to restore its sheen,” she says.

Tresses are the next obsession for a major chunk of them. A perfect hair do is a must for a perfect look and an unruly mop of hair can turn people away. “It is amazing to see people of this city adopting change with such remarkable ease. They are very particular about the kind of hair-do they want. People no more try to copy the hairstyle of a film hero and prefer to create their original styles,” says M. Srinivasa Reddy of Evlaas Beauty Saloon. Hair bleach, hair dye and hair glue are the choicest preferences of Gen-Y.

Latest fad

The cost of the treatment is easy on the purse. A synthetic facial comes for about Rs. 200, while a herbal one costs around Rs. 350. Some parlours offer weight loss programmes that cost anything between Rs.1, 000 and Rs. 2, 000. Taking a cue from bigger and trendier cities, the cosy hair salons now double up as beauty saloons offering a slew of services. Popular facial packages offered by most beauty clinics include Shehnaz honey, Shenaz shaneem, flower, gold fair ranging between Rs. 250 and Rs.700. The range of hairstyles like Revlon, L’Oreal and other stylish dyes are also available. “Sporting long hair a la Pokiri style was a rage till recently. But with the onset of summer, the youth prefer short cropped hair,” says Reddy. Catching up with the trend, most beauty parlours are now using a variety of herbal treatments. “People now prefer herbal creams, as they are natural and have no side effects,’ says Kaadambi herbs manufacturer S. Hemanth Kumar. In the business for nearly five years, he has been manufacturing and distributing his products to parlours across the State.
