Box office history

“Spider-Man 3” created box-office magic worldwide as it opened to a record $151.1 million at the U.S. box-office and Rs.19.17 crore at the Indian box-office, over the May 4-6 weekend. And worldwide, it grossed an amazing $3 75 million, making it the biggest ever opening of all times. In India, the film was released with 588 prints, in five languages and smashed every possible record in the Hollywood category.

In Chennai city, where a grand premiere was held, it became the highest grossing film in its opening weekend! Says Uday Singh, managing director, Sony Pictures India, who was in Chennai for the release: “‘Spider-Man 3’ is a universal hit. In India, it has taken a historic and extraordinary opening. We expect the film to rake in Rs. 65 crore.”
