HARD WORK Sweating out for results
Let us be honest for a moment and accept that we are not always 100 per cent motivated to exercise. But, there are certain things every human being can do to increase motivation levels and pursue those ‘elusive’ results. Here is a list of ideas:
Set goals
Make a list of the things you want to achieve by working out. The list can be split into three parts – goals to be achieved in six months, one year and a few years.
Do not set yourself to fail by planning to flatten an enormous belly in three months. Tell your well-wishers and kin about your goal and allow them to keep a check on all your activities. Several physical trainers are of the opinion that clients are committed to their training and diet schedule when their activities are watched.
Add variety
If you have been training with weights for more than six months, alter the order of exercises you do at every workout. Reduce the weights you handle and try doing more repetitions. You can also cut down the rest period between exercises. As regards cardiovascular training, try mixing up a variety of exercises such as brisk walking, cycling and rowing. Such sessions should last for at least 30 minutes without a break. Relax yourself everyday in a dimly lit room for some minutes. Visualise your goals as if you have already achieved every one of them. This is sure to help a person tap the power of the mind and set him/her on the path to success.
Use prop-ups
Repeat your goals to yourself, aloud, every day. Fix prop-ups at places such as refrigerator and almirah doors and mirrors. These will remind you of your goals and steps needed to take you closer to success.
Do not forget that the body achieves only what the mind believes it truly can achieve. People often fail to succeed only because they give up too early.
Put the mind in the drivers’ seat and allow it to take control of the body. Nothing is unattainable.
