MOTHER'S DAY

Gift for mother Mother’s Day

What to get mom, this Mother’s Day

From the heart Mother’s Day cards

Finding a gift for mother is always a problem. Nothing can ever be a ‘perfect’ enough gift for her. But as long as it’s from the heart, it’s enough. For those still hunting for a gift for mother this Mother’s Day, here are a few ideas.

Nothing expresses better the way you feel about your mom than a card. Archies Gallery has a line-up of special Mother’s Day cards for the day. From mushy lines to cards that bring a laugh, it’s your pick.

Flowers too are a hot favourite with roses and lilies leading the way. Tulips (9349395126) offers its customers pink roses or lilies decorated in a basket (starting Rs. 250) or a bouquet of roses (starting Rs. 100).

If mom’s wardrobe needs a change or an addition, how about stopping by Czarina’s or Ashmia. Czarina has a special ‘Mother’s Day’ collection that has saris ranging from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1,200.

“We have fancy saris with light embroidery, cotton and kota saris with mirror work and block prints. Georgettes and chiffons with sequined works and beads are also available. The collection has mostly pastel shades,” says Sheila James of Czarina.

Ashima has saris with bandini prints and pita work. Crepe saris with antique work, party wear saris with zardosi work… all come in a wide range of colours.

“It’s mostly colours like magenta, lemon yellow and turquoise blue,” says Sudha Suresh of Ashima.

Designer suit materials (starting Rs. 800) with gold prints and glass work or thread work are also available.

Dine out

With mothers often working over a hot stove, what better gift than to treat her to a lavish lunch or dinner buffet. Muthoot Plaza offers a special Mother’s Day treat.

A special magic show has been arranged for those who plan to have lunch at the hotel’s restaurant, Tiffany.

If mom has a sweet tooth, how about gifting her a cake or a box of chocolate. Ambrosia has delightful homemade chocolates gift wrapped in a container. It is Rs. 100 for a 200- gm container.

So, cards or dining out, what’s your pick, this Mother’s Day?
