Designer Nisha Jamwal on why men should dress down and women go for chic options this summer

FOR MEN Simplicity works. So instead of embroidery, go for interesting textures. The silhouettes are constructed and non-fussy. For men who mean business, suits with a severe, clean look in functional fabrics are what I recommend for the season. Slim trousers and short jackets that are slightly boxy in their construction and easy-shouldered clothes are making summer statements.

FOR WOMEN What I feel is that the fashion world is saturated with similar looks. So it’s time to break free from clichés and start afresh this season. Dresses are happening and women aren’t shy of showing some leg.

Tunics in strict uniform styles, grandma laces and touches of embroidery are chic options. Feminine retro styles, with balloon sleeves and cinched and high waistlines are in. Middle management is big! So don’t forget those dressy belts that do all the talking.

For nocturnal dos, dress up and go for classic, aristocratic styles that are feminine and elegant. Remember, less is more.
