Doctor on call

‘Hello Doctor’ offers Ayurveda treatment at the patients doorstep

Bliss Even massage therapies are done at home

No more long queues and no more dragging yourself from your sick bed to visit the doctor. Reviving the practice of doctors coming to your doorstep to treat your aches and pains is ‘Hello Doctor,’ a service offered by Eastend Medical Solution Pvt. Ltd.

Founded by a group of doctors, Eastend was started for those who went on a student or work visa to the United Kingdom or United States. “Fixing an appointment with a doctor abroad is difficult. Those registered with us will have a doctor on call around the clock. As it is popular with those going abroad, we decided to provide a similar service here,” says Umashanker, director and chief operating officer of Eastend.

Ayurveda treatment

While it is allopathic medicine that is being prescribed abroad, ‘Hello Doctor’ offers traditional Ayurveda treatment for its customers.

According to Umashanker, a person is sent to the patient’s home to collect his medical history. “A doctor then goes through the report and pays the patient a visit. After examining the patient, the doctor bases the treatment accordingly.” If blood tests are required, ‘Hello Doctor’ sends a paramedic to collect it and then returns with the results.

“It’s all at your home service. As most of our patients are incapacitated, our service proves a blessing to them. Even massage therapies are done at home,” says Umashanker.

And so you have the ‘Hello Doctor’ team coming in their cab carrying wooden dhronis, dhara stands, dhara pots et al. “The doctors are all qualified and so are the masseurs. Any massage therapy is done under the doctor’s supervision.”

Most of the patients treated are suffering from arthritis and back ache. “We also have a couple of patients who suffer from Alzheimer’s.It’s Rs.200 for a consultation and a follow-up call and there’s no service charge.” A seven-day rejuvenation course is Rs. 7,000 and a fat reduction course is Rs. 6,500. “These two therapies are popular among clients,” adds Umashanker.
