Caught in a web!

Sony Pictures India is in a fix. Its “Spider-man 3” has become the highest grossing Hollywood film in India, mainly in Tamil Nadu. It has done better business in Tamil Nadu than any other film released this summer. Now the problem is Sony had plans to release Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean 3” and its Tamil version “Caribbean Kallarai Dweep”, along with the rest of the world on May 23. “The Pirates 1 and 2” had done extraordinary business in Tamil Nadu, and Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow is very popular. So not wanting to create competition for Spidey, Sony pushed the release date to June 1. However, Sony and Disney were forced to change the release date again to June 15, as they did not want to clash with the real superstar Rajnikanth’s “Sivaji”, which was to release on May 31. Now that “Sivaji” has been postponed to June 15, “Pirates-3” has advanced its release back to June 1.
