Golf on the hills deal of the week


Taj Holidays announces a golf tour which will focus on the hill stations of Chikmagalur, Ooty and Conoor from May 31 to June 5. Some of the game’s top professionals will participate from clubs around Bangalore, Chennai, Mysore and Coimbatore. P layers will have more than just a successful ‘putt’ to look forward to, gala dinners and golf goodies. Taj Garden Retreat, Chikmagalur, is located on the gentle slopes of the Sahyadri range and its private cottages make for an idyllic getaway. One can enjoy coffee estate tours, cycling on the countryside and leisurely walks. The Chikmagalur Golf Club is a 9-hole course of international standards, spread over 56 acres with Bababudangiri Hills as the backdrop.

Taj Savoy, Ooty, is ensconced high on a hill and offers colonial-style cottages that were built between 1834 and 1865. The Ootacamund Golf Course is the finest natural golf course in the world. It is over 100 years old and a delight to play on.

Taj Garden Retreat, Coonoor, is nestled amidst rolling mountains and lush green foliage. Wellington has a small Army settlement which has a nine-hole golf course maintained by the Wellington Gymkhana Club and is one of the highest altitude golf courses in the world.

The golf tour begins with lunch at the Taj West End followed by departure to Taj Garden Retreat at Chikmagalur in a luxury coach. On arrival in the evening will be an ice breaker cocktail and a dinner affair. Players will tee off on the morning of Day Two at the Chikmagalur Golf Club. Post-lunch, the tour heads to Taj Savoy at Ooty. The third day starts with a leisurely morning tee off mid-afternoon at Ootacamund Gymkhana Club. Players spend a relaxed evening with a cocktail dinner at Taj Savoy. Day Four, Tee off at Wellington Gymkhana Club Coonoor, followed by cocktails and dinner at Taj Garden Retreat, Coonoor. Last day – depart for Bangalore.

The tour is open to players from the Bangalore Golf Club, Coimbatore Golf Club, Cosmopolitan Club of Chennai, J.C Wadiyer Golf Club, Karnataka Golf Association, Madras Gymkhana Club and Host Clubs on a first-come-first-served basis. Rates per person Rs. 7,000 triple sharing/ Rs. 8,500 twin sharing for four nights and five days.
