Special mission

The Malayalam film, “Mission 90 Days,” on the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, with Mammootty playing a special investigation officer, releases today. It is directed by Major Ravi, who made the super hit “Keerthichakra” (̶ 0;Aran” in Tamil) starring Mohanlal. It was on terrorism in Kashmir, which got him the Kerala State award for screenplay.

Major Ravi incidentally was part of the real NSG commando team that raided Sivarasan’s hide-out in Bangalore.

Says Major Ravi: “The film tells the story of Major Sivaraman, played by Mammootty, in charge of the investigation of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. They track down the killers in 90 days and hence the title.” The film has Tulip Joshi as heroine and some breathtaking cinematography by Thiru.
