The remix king

Adding a punch to old melodies and training DJs, Bally Sagoo has his hands full

Bally Sagoo

He came up with “Aaja Nachle” when nobody in India knew about remixes, did a remix track with Amitabh Bachchan and added a few high-powered punches to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s soft melodies.

Bally Sagoo, the godfather of remixes, has many feathers in his cap. It was Bally’s idea to give a shot at rejuvenating old Bollywood classics .

“Bollywood Flashback” became one of the biggest sellers worldwide.

The song, “Chura Liya” became the first Indian song to be play listed on Radio One. As a writer and producer, he shows his skills in his album “Rising from the East” .

Bally Sagoo now plans to open a DJ academy to train the budding DJs . He points out that Indian DJs have tremendous potential and loads of talent but what they need is a little bit of guidance.

He points out hat India is lacking of good rappers, who can give any normal music, a swing in its taste.

Opening lounge bars are also on his list-of-things-to do and he has already set up his lounge bar in Dubai.

He says “What I have learnt in 30 years as DJ, I want to use each and every frame that has seen in these years”.

Bally Sagoo lives by the minute and says his music too is instinctive.

“I don’t know what I am going to do next and that spontaneity makes my music special”. He is coming up with a film called “Sajjna ve Sajjna.”
