Let the birds fly sound off!

The next time you admire a caged bird, think about the torture inflicted on it, writes Aishwarya Ganesh

A lot of people say they would like to be a bird in their next birth.

After all, who would not want to flap their wings, fly high without any air ticket and commute anywhere, their freedom guaranteed.

Now think about the innumerable birds you have appreciated, and petted, once they are safely locked up in cages, just to entertain you.

Don’t you think that what you do gives untold misery to the bird?

How do we get people to stop this inhuman practice?

Imagine yourself locked up in a lift for the rest of your life, and given food and water when your master deems it fit?

It’s unimaginable torture, right? Then what are we doing to those little birds?

Recently, my eyes welled up with tears on seeing two parrots locked up in a cage near the Coimbatore flower market.

The cage was so small that they could not even flap their wings. People looked at the hapless birds, but no one bothered to set them free.

Why don’t we allow birds to enjoy their right to freedom?
