Monsoon fest

DakshinaChitra celebrates the Ayyanar and Adiperukku Festival (monsoon festival) till July 30. There will be traditional folk performances and a procession of terracotta offerings will be taken out on July 29. There will also be exhibits on interest ing and less-known facts about the monsoons, bullock-cart rides, shadow-puppet shows and live demos by artisans. To complete the monsoon experience, food stalls will serve traditional delicacies while the marundu kadai will sell herba l medicines to stay healthy during the rain. The monsoon celebration will culminate with the sowing of the navadanyam (nine cereals). for Adiperukku.
