Woman on top

No more speculations about who the next president is going to be All the questions weather who should be the president, whether political affiliations matter, should Abdul Kalam have a second term have all been set to rest. The suspense and the wait is over. The new president has been announced. Seventy-two-year old Pratibha Patil has become the 13th President and the first woman president of India. She seems to be popular among the political clan, going by the number of votes she won.

Is it something to do with woman power? After a long hiatus women seem to be returning to the forefront in politics and winning too. But does it all just end there? Is it going to be easy for Pratibha Patil to lead our country as an able leader? Have we chosen justly? How has the public received the news about her being the president? Are they thrilled that a woman has come into power so that they can look forward to some special developments for women in all fields or are they having second thoughts about her?

Read on to find out what the Bengalooru janata has to say about the new President.

This is all about politics. There is absolutely no need to replace Kalam with Patil. He should have been given another five years. He truly deserves it. He has done so much for the nation, it is going to be tough for Patil to match up to him.

It should be taken as a women’s power in all its glory to the fore front. I don’t think she is strong enough to be a President. She was anonymous and suddenly she has come in to the power.

I am sure we could have found someone better.

It is going to be tough for her to match up to Kalam.

She has to do well for otherwise she will, perhaps, be the last woman president of India.

One cannot compare her to Kalam at all. We have watch her work and progress.


I wish she does something for women. Good that a woman has become the president, but it is tough to forget Kalam and think of someone else in his place.
