Enchanting lyrics

The audio release of “Bheema”

At the audio release of Surya Movies’ “Bheema”, the dais was studded with the VIPs from the Tamil film industry.

The function began with Na.Muthukumar’s welcome address. Cameraman R.D. Rajasekar said he was happy to see the director’s unit rehearsing every scene in the film.

Actor Vikram said he was happy with the outcome of the film. “We have worked hard to complete the film. Trisha looks her best.”

Music director Harris Jayaraj said though he was nervous about accepting the project, once he started working on it, the music took its own course. Director Lingusamy said that he got the right people to do the right job. “Normally I used to do my script and then only enter the set. The bound book would be ready and any person who has the basic knowledge can direct a movie with the script. My script is the strong point. I’ve achieved what I wanted in the film. It will be stylish and different.”There are five songs and each one is different. It is obvious that Harris has taken his time to work on them. ‘Oru Mugamo’ written by Pa. Vijay and sung by Krish and Naresh Iyer has a desi pop feel. ‘Mudhal Mazhai’ has lyrics by Na.Muthukumar and is sung by R. Prasanna, Hariharan and Mahathi. It is a slow, melodious number.

The opening strains of the song remind one reminds us of “Kakka Kakka’s” song ‘Uyirin’ and the latter half portion of the “Vettaiyadu Velaiyadu” song ‘Manjal’. Pa.Vijay’s other song “Rangu Rangamma” is peppy and is sure to mesmerise listeners. Sung by Vijay Yesudas, Kailash Kher and Swarnalatha, this song has a good combination of lyrics and music. Another hit number is ‘Ragasiya Kanavugal’ by Hariharan and Mahathi, written by Ugabharathi.

One of Harris’ favourite lyricists is Thamarai. From the days of “Minnale”(‘Vasigara’), till date, he has used her lyrics beautifully and the song ‘Siru Parvayale’, sung by Karthik and Harini, is no exception. The last song in the album is written by Ugabharathi and sung by Chinmayi, Sadhana Sargam, Sowmya Rao and Nikhil Mathew. Newcomer Nikhil Mathew won an award with a satellite channel and got a chance to sing a Harris composition. Nikhil seems to be a singer of promise.
