A seafood festival has been dished out at F&B

LOW CALORIE Many dishes come with an assortment of boiled vegetables along with large slices of fish marinated in various marinates

F & B (Food and beverages) restaurant on Papanna Street is organising a seafood fest at its Bouquet. The place, designed with large plain glass walls, offers a bright and contemporary ambience. With plenty of sunshine, pretty flower arrangements and a view of life as it passes by you makes you feel good about life.

We start our meal with a mocktail that comes with kiwi fruit juice, with a dash of lime and soda and plenty of crushed ice in a salt rimmed glass. With this the starters too come in. Coming to food , there's no doubt that Bouquet specialises in Europeans and pan-Asian cuisine, takes a keen interest in its presentation of food. The plate is artistically arranged with vegetable carvings. First it's the Salmon Affumicato (smoked salmon and char grilled peppers rolled with crŠme cheese with cracked pepper) - new flavour to discover, but if you don't like the smoked flavour, simply opt out of this one. Shrimp bruschetta (poached shrimps tossed with cherry tomatoes) and moules mariniere (fresh mussels cooked with dry white wine and shallots) are the other starters. While the first was easier on the palate it was the second one that simply grew on you. Served in shells, this one's a sure winner with its blend of cheese, wine and pepper.

For the main course it was sole a'la meuniere (fillet of sole pan fried with butter and a medley of vegetables). You actually see the staff prepare the dish right in front of you. This dish came with two large slices of sole accompanied with tiny-boiled potatoes, broccoli, carrots and beans, served really bland. While the fish is tender and juicy with fresh ground pepper and strongly marinated , the serving of vegetables took you back to your school days. F&B serves quite a few dishes that come with an assortment of boiled or raw vegetables along with large slices of fish marinated in various marinates.

This place is best for those who are calorie conscious. Along with these "signature" recipes from Europe, there were also some Indian recipes like the traditional prawn cocktail or meen Chettinad, served with steamed rice.

Because the food was light and healthy, I decided to try the brandied apple tart for dessert. This cinnamon flavoured tart with a small scoop of ice-cream and a mint leaf blended in with the rest of the food.

If you like to discover new flavours then the seafood fest at F&B is worth a visit and may not be ideal for those with who have conditioned their tastebuds to Indian flavours. The fest is on till September 30.

Bouquet at F&B, is open for lunch and dinner. It can be contacted on 4033 3888. Valet parking is available.
