Regularised

Meenakshi Temple and its surroundings are noted for heavy traffic. Approach road via Simmakkal is choked during morning hours owing to the vegetable and fruit market. At Kamarajar Salai, the traffic moves at snail’s speed. Business establishments make the West Masi Street difficult to access. Vilakkuthoon is no different. Festive seasons make matters worse. Parking of autorickshaws should be banned around the temple. Lorries should be permitted into the city only during night hours. Vehicular parking also needs to be regularised. Platforms should be left strictly for pedestrians and no encroachment should be allowed.

P. PRAVEEN,

Madurai.
