Mridula Agarwal

She started writing only after her children left home. But tasted success with her very first book. While accepting that stress has always existed, Agarwal believes that the level of stress has increased. “I felt it’s a burning issue,” she asserts. Agarwal explains, “I have always been interested in psychology. It is my passion. I have researched a lot. When I write I want to know what people have written before me.” Instructing through homilies, the book advises, “Never Argue”, “Take Life Easy”, “Forgive and Forget”. It is also replete with quotations. From Charles Dickens to Seneca to George Eliot to the Buddha, they all figure in the book. A graduate in Psychology and English Literature, Agarwal uses their quotations to bolster her own observations.

She believes that this is the age of self-help books, as people have become more aware. These books, she feels, are the best way to understand oneself and others. Their saleability is evident in Agarwal’s assertion. “It has been easy for me to get my books published.” Her next work, unlike her previous ones, will be a narrative in fiction form. A three-part series, it will explore parenting in the early years, middle years and then teenage years. The book is likely to be released this coming January.
