The Black Eyed Peas will perform in Bangalore to mark the release of their new album The E.N.D.

“Where is the love?” the Black Eyed Peas asked in their break out hit single. Well, they’re likely to find plenty of it during their first visit to India — the Grammy-winning alternative hip hop foursome will be performing in Bangalore’s Palace Grounds on October 16 as part of their Black Blue and You World Tour 2007.
“India has such an intriguing and rich culture,” says Black Eyed Peas member apl.de.ap in an email interview. “We can’t wait to perform and meet our fans.”
And Indian fans no doubt can’t wait to watch them perform live. The Black Eyed Peas — Will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo — shot to fame with their breakthrough album “Elephunk” in 2003. “Elephunk” went on to sell 7.5 million copies worldwide and won the group their first Grammy award.
High-energy beats
The multi-ethnic group with its signature funky look, infectious rhymes and high-energy beats has only grown in popularity since then. Their 2005 album “Monkey Business” featured several chart-topping hits including “Don’t Phunk With My Heart”, “Don’t Lie” and the band’s favourite, “My Humps” (“We love performing My Humps because it’s so energetic,” says apl.de.ap). All three songs were nominated for Grammies; “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” and “My Humps” won the awards.
The band’s musical influences are varied — Steve Wonder, the roots, Bob Marley, De La Soul,
Tribe called Quest and the Beatles, to name a few. Most of all, they believe in making music that’s food for the soul. In fact, that’s where their unusual name comes from, says apl.de.ap: “Black-eyed peas are considered soul food in the southern part of the U.S., and we felt we were creating music for the soul, hence the name.”
Fans who love Fergie and Will.i.am’s latest solo offerings have something to cheer about at the concert as well — Fergie will be singing tracks from her 2006 album “The Dutchess” which produced several chart-toppers such as “London Bridge”, “Fergaliscious”, “Glamourous” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, and rapper Will.i.am will perform hits such as “I Got It From My Mama” from his latest album Songs About Girls.
The Black Blue and You World Tour, which kicked off in September, takes the Peas to 13 countries around the world, and marks the release of their upcoming album The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies).
