Class act

Mohanlal is doing an offbeat film “Pardesi”, directed by Kunji Mohammed, in which he plays Valiyakathu Moosa, a man who goes from Kerala to Karachi in the early 1930s and returns during the Partition and settles in Malappuram in Kerala. But even after 50 years of Independence, Moosa does not get an Indian passport and is referred to as a Pakistani! Says Mohanlal: “I play the character of Moosa in three different stages of his life — when he is 35, 60 and 80. It is one of the toughest roles I’ve done so far, especially the make-up.” “Pardesi” also stars Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Shweta Menon and Kavya Madhavan. It is the first foray of Pyramid Saimira into Kerala as distributors which will release the film in a big way for Ramzan.
