Relishing treat Naturally flavoured and coloured

Eating out’ is fast growing on the city and its denizens. It is becoming like a habit that is here to stay. People no longer seem to mind splurging on good food served in a good ambience. The underlying sense of excitement, togetherness and celebration all combine to make the occasion memorable.

This perhaps is one of the reasons in the spurt of hotels and restaurants across the city. One such latest addition is Hotel Aarogya, a pure vegetarian hotel on Old Natham Road near B.B. Kulam.

No eggs

It remains true to its name because the use of eggs and colouring agents is totally avoided here. Claims one of the partners, S.Ramesh, “we serve all kinds of gravies and dishes that retain their natural colour even after being cooked.”

Only on particular requests during outdoor catering services, colouring agents like saffron are used for customer’s satisfaction.

Since its establishment in July 7 this year, the hotel is managing to pull a sizeable crowd catering to all kinds of taste buds and purses.

Mr. Ramesh, a diploma holder in catering technology, says that he aims to serve the food freaks, especially those who cannot afford to visit star hotels in the city, and those suffering from diabetes.

Diabetic no worry

“Every diabetic can eat any item here because for them we use less oil and spices and we avoid certain vegetables too,” he says, adding that the customers only need to inform that they are suffering from blood sugar.”

Exclusively for children

Understanding the worth of money the hotel also offers all range of food items for children- such as children dosa, children noodles… The items are same except for the quantity and price. Taste is also slightly altered to suit the children’s taste buds. It is less hot than what is served to adults, Mr. Ramesh says.

The special items of Arogya are ‘chilli parotta’ and ‘chilli chappathi’ besides Aarogya special meals and Aarogya special noodles. The Aarogya float drink comes with a combination of Slice at bottom, Pepsi in middle and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top.

According to S. Kaliappan, manager, the menu is restricted to only 10 varieties of dosas and seven categories of uthappam including mushroom uthappam. But items in the beverage section galore what with the regular coffee, tea and milk-based drinks, hot chocolate and D-protinex drinks also find a place. The hotel provides South and North Indian tiffin items for breakfast between 7 and11 a.m. During lunch hours between 12 noon to 3.30 p.m., Chinese and Punjabi food items are added along with ordinary and special meals of North India.

Those with a palate for fast food, sandwiches and burgers fill in. For the coffee connoisseurs, seeds are ground fresh and piping hot coffee is served in its natural flavour, says Mr. Kaliappan.

In its few months of existence, Arogya has earned a reputation for its well-run dining room where diners are treated with effortless courtesy and respect besides serving the food items as per their need and taste.

“A visit to the hotel should be a worthwhile holistic experience and not simply for eating,” assures Mr. Ramesh.
