My kind of place
In tune
There was a time when mountains put me on a creative high. I would take off to hill stations to compose tunes in the tranquillity of the heights. Mahabaleswar, Darjeeling, Kulu Manali, Shimla, Ooty…. Not any more.
Cooling off in Kolhapur
One chilly-hilly tiny town that I am fond of is Panhala, near Kolhapur. Identified with the Maratha warrior-king Shivaji (the fort is a must visit) and better known for the weekend retreat of Lata Mangeshkar. Panhala is for those who want a no-activity vacation.
Charming countryside If it’s a long holiday with family, then U.K. tops my list. A drive through the English countryside is therapeutic. And stopping at Blackpool in the county of Lancashire is a must. Six miles of beach, a tram ride on a road along the beach, the tower (gorgeous when illuminated), amusement park...If not England, it is Los Angeles for me — so much to do, see and experience in this incredibly diverse place.
