Hindustani vocal concert
Goan music Pandit Shivkumar
Musical Meet, a music organisation based at Mattancherry, will present a Hindustani vocal concert by Pandit Shivkumar at Abad Hotel, Chullikkal, Mattancherry, on October 21 at 6.30 p.m.
Pandit Shivkumar, who belongs to a rich lineage of Goan musicians, learned Hindustani classical music from Jayakrishna Bhatikar and continued in the true guru-shishya tradition under Pandit Prabhakar Karekar.
Along with Hindustani classical Pandit Shivkumar is adept in various semi-classical forms like Thumri, Dadra, Bhajans and light music.
In the concert Pandit Shivkumar will be accompanied on the tabla by Ojas Adhia, who has the distinction of being featured in the Limca Book of World Records as the world’s youngest tabla player and on the harmonium by Sharad Sidhaye.
