Kalyan Theatre will stage its new play in the city

Showtime This group produces only Hindi plays

The Hindi play “Jo Peechche Rah Jaate Hain” will be staged on November 2 at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall, at 7. 30 p.m. The play is produced in association with Kalpavruksha. The play, written and directed by Mathura Kalauny, will be staged by Kalayan Theatre Group. Kalauny has written 18 plays, and four novels. Two of his plays — “Jod Tod”, and “Kayapalat” — are popular with the Bangalore theatre crowd.

Kalayan group was formed in 1989. The group has positioned itself as the only local theatre organisation in Bangalore, engaged in producing Hindi plays. “Staging a play in Bangalore, especially a Hindi Play, is a daunting task. Putting together a cast with good acting skills, previous stage experience and fluency in Hindi is tough,” says the director. The activities of Kalayan Theatre Group are available at www.kalayan.org.

Tickets for the show are priced at Rs. 100, Rs. 200 and Rs. 300 and are available at www.kalayan.org (for online booking), all the outlets of New Arya Bhavan Sweets, Supermarket 5th Avenue (Brigade Road), K.C. Das (St. Mark’s Road).
