ALL ENCOMPASSING The unique thing about this organic buffet is that it does not stick to just continental

For those of us who are tired of regularly eating rich, heavy food in hotels compulsorily for business dos, the Wellness Buffet at Raj Pavilion, ITC Windsor is where you should head to, where your stomach will not be put under the axe with different chemicals, high-cholesterol or masalas.

In the white sunny ambience of the Raj Pavilion glasshouse, you can help yourself to the array of organic fresh food, starting with an interesting assortment of salads to go with a refresher. There’s avocado, smoked salmon and grapefruit sardines, serano ham and melon twists to go with the very different tomato, cucumber refresher with mint leaves sprinkled on top.

But you must try the salad of roasted baby potatoes and smoked chicken; it’s smoked to just the right degree. You’ll love the smell of the burnt potato skin whiffing at your nose.

From the roast wagon, pomegranate and cinnamon roast chicken has been dipped in sweet ’n’ salty finger-licking sauce. The chicken has been cooked well as it is soft, and easy to chew. Baked snapper with organic tomato and garlic is marinated sea snapper wrapped like paan in a banana leaf. This is an innovative technique, as it lends its own flavour to the mild, soft square fish pieces.

Beetroot, carrot, turnip and forest mushroom stew lends once again very distinctive, discrete tastes, which is a nice change from the tried and tested. This stew “is cooked in its own liquor with cooking wine and garden-fresh herbs” and yields a tasty juice to the plain and creamy organic brown rice with the surprising bites of corn pilaf.

Coming to the dessert section, an area we all dread, but ultimately end up binging on, there is a nice choice of sugarless sweets to choose from. Mixed berry compote with sugar-free cream was delicious – the sour berries and the slurpy cream made the right combination.

The unique thing about this organic buffet is that it does not stick to continental – it explores a whole host of cuisines as per your preference.

The “Wellness Buffet” is on all this month at the Raj Pavilion, ITC Windsor, 25 Golf Course Road from 7.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. Call 22269898 for reservations.
