An Anglo Indian Food Fest is on at Taj Connemara
|
Taj Connemara presents a festival of Anglo-Indian cuisine reviving the aura of the British era. This festival, at The Verandah, has been designed keeping in mind Chennai’s long association with the Anglo-Indian culture and traditions.
Savour dishes such as mulligatawny soup, an anglicised version of the Tamil word Milagu-Thani, meaning pepper water, Southern Railway lamb curry, jaldi chicken kebab, colonial style pepper chicken, prawns in green masala curry, brinjal vindaloo, cabbage foogath, coconut rice, coconut custard pie and kul-kuls (dessert).
Though Anglo-Indians are not largely vegetarians and vegetables are only used as accompaniments to meat dishes, over time vegetarian dishes have become an integral part of the community’s food habits and have acquired a distinctive flavour. A live band will perform every evening retro songs of yesteryear.
The Anglo-Indian food festival is on for dinner from 7.30 p.m. onwards till October 30. For reservations, contact 6600 0000.
