“I have been posing for pictures since morning,” says a weary Queenie Dhody as she agrees for yet another round of flashlights, when she came to Delhi. The former model and jewellery designer was here to showcase her “Jewels by Queenie” collection done in precious and semi-precious stone and gold. “Gold is in,” says Queenie pointing to her collection in beaten gold. Queenie began her jewellery journey about four years back. “My jewellery is loud. It exudes elegance and importance. It is enough to make a statement. It tells a woman apart,” declares Queenie.
But she agrees her elaborate neck pieces and chandelier ear rings are not for the working women. “The jewellery is not for the working woman, at least it is not for work. These are bold pieces and give women individuality and confidence,” says the style icon.
Once a well-known model Queenie believes the fashion industry in India is growing by “leaps and bounds.” “But there is too much of fashion today. So there should be a distinction between the good and the bad,” she winds up.
