Can aloe vera gel from the plant be applied daily on the face and hair? For how long can it be left on after application? — Sajani

Stabilised aloe vera gel is used in various cosmetics. The gel is the leaf pulp or mucilage found in the inner portion of the leaves. Aloe juice is found just beneath the outer skin of the leaves. You can apply the gel or juice directly on the skin or hair, but extraction must be done very hygienically. Wash the plant well before extracting gel/juice. Apply it on the skin or hair and wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes with water. Aloe vera is a natural moisturiser.

My face is dull and becoming dark. Suggest a face pack to make it glow? Also, suggest a method to remove the hair from my arms and legs at home. — Vidya

Once daily, mix honey with curd or lemon juice in equal quantities and apply it on the face, washing it off with plenty of water after 20 minutes. Twice a week, mix together ripe papaya pulp, four teaspoons of oatmeal, egg white and one teaspoon each of honey and curd. Apply it on the face and wash it off after half an hour. Waxing is the best way of removing hair from the arms and legs.

My feet are dry and dark. Can you provide some tips on feet care? — Archana

Care for your feet daily by massaging them with creams and protecting them from dryness. Before bathing, apply til oil on your feet and heels, massaging it into the skin. Once a week, soak your feet in hot water after adding coarse salt. This helps remove dirt and grime. Rub your feet with a pumice stone. Wash them and apply cream, massaging it into the skin.

You can also mix together three tablespoons of rose water with two tablespoons lemon juice and one teaspoon of pure glycerine. Apply it on the feet daily and leave it on for half an hour.
