Seasonal revelry Don’t miss out on it

The effervescent spirit of Diwali permeates through every aspect of life. The Festival of Lights brings with it joy and celebration. And yes, much festive shopping too! It’s the time to brighten up your interiors and wardrobes with the joyful spirit of the festival. Shops and showrooms in the city have geared with a wide range of festive collections, right from artefacts to a range of designer wear. Markets are already jam-packed with crowds and a shopping hysteria has gripped the city. Sending cash registers ringing, shoppers can be seen with entire family and children in tow. To cash in on the craze, the shopkeepers are luring customers with “special discounts” and “sales” and shopping festivals to add to the frenzy. Clearly this is one season of revelry and merriment no one wants to miss out on.

A touch of ethnic stuff, be it to the wardrobe or the interiors, seems to top the list of the ardent shoppers this festive season. This is the time to give a complete makeover to your homes. If you have been scouring for ethnic artefacts to jazz up your home, the city has plenty to offer. At Lepakshi, wooden artefacts from Tirupati, brass idols from Aligarh and Muradabad are the latest arrivals for the festive season. The grand finesse of the products is sure to lift up the gloomy corners of your interiors. The glistening range of brass lamps will surely enhance the festive mood with its radiance. It’s also a treasure house of elegantly designed and crafted stone and pearl jewellery and artefacts sourced from various parts of India.

Pearls with a dash of silver are among the latest arrivals at the showroom. With all the new range of artefacts and handlooms for the festive occasion, Lepakshi will shortly shift to its renovated sprawling showroom in the first week of November. The vibrant colours of Etikopakka and Kondapalli toys at Lepakshi and Kalasrusti will surely deck up the rooms and also offer a traditional look to your interiors. Treat your bedroom to a range of Kalamkari bedspreads or go the whole hog and indulge in linens from Banaras with the shiny cushion covers at the showrooms.

For all those who are looking for a blend of the traditional and contemporary fashion for Diwali will find plenty of options to choose from. Age-old handlooms are being given a new lease of life.

What better than home-spun cotton and khadi. With eco-friendly being the buzzword in today’s parlance, cotton, khadi and jute seem to be the preferred fabrics. It has become fashionable to wear cotton. And Fabindia is the place which stocks much of that under one roof. Pick up the colourful range of skirts and team with it a sleeveless or halter-neck top and a stylish stole.

If you want to redecorate your house in ethnic style then the furnishing section is the place to see. For the range of fabrics and textures gives you ample options to choose from. Different sizes of bedsheets, table cloths, cushion covers, table mats and towels are available giving the consumer wide options. Ready to hang curtains in subtle shades are another feature of the store. To go with the décor some lamp bases and shades can also be picked up.
