Today, every seventh Indian carries an Internet enabled device. To cater to the growing demand of high performance multimedia devices with mobile technology, the Nokia N series recently introduced N81 and N95 8GB, in New Delhi. A panel discussion on “The Future of Mobile Entertainment” was also conducted. “The idea is to capture and sustain the share of Nokia in the mobile entertainment industry in India, which currently stands at $15,000 million. The new handsets have everything a tech savvy person can dream of,” Vineet Taneja, Business Director, Nokia India, said.
N81 comes with preloaded Bollywood and Hollywood content, like music videos, songs and film scenes. It also has a 3D multimedia menu. But the highlightof the device is that the user can buy, manage and play games from the soon-to-be-launched N-gage games service.
Bhojpuri influx
It has been almost two years since Sasura Bada Paise Wala hit the jackpot at the box office. Since then, the Bhojpuri fever seems to be getting stronger.
The latest in the trend is Baklol Dulha, which is all set to hit the theatres this month.
The cast was recently present in New Delhi to promote the movie.Bhojpuri superstar Rani Chatterji is paying the lead role with Pankaj Keshri who is just three films old.
“This is my first movie as a solo hero, which is making me nervous and happy at the same time,” smiled Keshri. Director Umar Khan is also introducing Sheel Madhur, the Inspector General of Haryana in his movie who, according to him, is “best suited” for the role.
“Everyone can sit and enjoy this film with their family,” producer Arvind Shrivastav said. Nonetheless, the movie has an item song but “very less” of skin show, added Chatterji.
“We make movies for the masses and a Bhojpuri movie without ‘masala’ is like a meal without pickle,” added Shrivastav.
For the bride
Designer Ratna Jain recently showcased her bridal collection in New Delhi. She also unveiled her next designer venture, Devsthali, a luxury villa resort in Goa on the same occasion.
The collection has black lehengas and maroon leheria dupattas, an unusual colour for a bridal collection. “Not anymore,” Jain said, “Girls have come to me and asked for it for the cocktails and sagai.” Tones of gold have been used as the base along with vibrant pinks, reds and greens for odnis and cholis. .
Jain has used brocades, textured georgettes and tissues, which make the outfits very light and easy to carry.
The motifs tend to be traditional Rajasthani work. But the whole look of the outfits carry a dash of the contemporary.
It is the cholis that have gone a little more than bold with backless blouses, doris and strapless blouses. The collection can be best described as Jain’s experiment with saris for the bridal trousseau through pre-pleated saris, drape saris and skirt saris.
